Exam Results are In.... What now??

Firstly I want to MASSIVELY apologies for this blog post being up late, however we are now up and running as normal....

For many people across Scotland, today was a big day! It was exam results day.. a day that is terrifying and exciting in equal measure. It can be what determines your next move, what you do with the next stage of your life and that can be a daunting concept. I remember what I was like getting my results. I ran into the dining room and wouldn't let anyone else in as I wanted to be on my own when I opened the envelope!! It is scary, and whether you done amazingly or not as great as you would have hoped, knowing what you are going to do next is a big decision....

Firstly, if you are reading this, and you are a bit let down with your results, DON'T BE DISHEARTENED! You might think that you have completely ruined your chances of getting that dream placement at University or that High Class Job, but you haven't! Trust me, I felt the exact same way! Have a look into different courses and do a little research online... many places will offer night courses, or fast track courses that will allow you to reach your goals, all be it a slightly different way!

If you are still in school, then speak to your teachers, you won't be the only person in your current situation and they will have helped loads of people in the past who are like you just now. They will have the most knowledge and be able to direct you on the right path as to what to do next. You probably are not aware of all the options that are available to you.

So what if you have got those grades that you studies so much for and now you are guaranteed that dream placement! What now? Don't think the hard work stops now, no matter what you go on to do, you will be faced with harder challenged in the future. So now is the time to get organised. Do some online research to learn what is needed of you and expected in your next role. If you are going to do further study, ensure you have the correct supplies, any uniform requirements and have a delve into what the course entails. If you are going into the working life, research what is required of you for the job, so you can impress your employers and give yourself a head start in your career. Being organised and taking the time to learn what is expected of you can help you get off on the right start... no matter what you are going on to do.

Now I know from personal experience that not everyone has set plans for when they get their exam results through, as I never had a clue what I wanted to do 4 years ago when I was in the same position! For some people it can be difficult trying to decide what you want to do for the rest of your life and it can be a scary thought! This is the time to try new things out and discovering what you enjoy or not enjoy. Take the time to try different courses/jobs and if you don't enjoy it and know it isn't for you, then don't feel bad about leaving it and moving onto something new. This will ensure when you finally settle with something you know you love and enjoy, you know you have made the right decision. Don't feel you need to decide what you want to do now, and stick with it for all eternity!

No matter what results you have achieved, always remember that everything will fall into place and you will achieve your goals. From personal experience I know what it can be like when you don't get that grade you were hopng for, nevertheless I have ended up doing something now that I love, as it gave me the chance to go and do something I never thought I would do.

It can feel daunting moving on to your next step, but thousands of people across Scotland are in the same situation as yourself just now, and will be feeling the exact same way so you are not on your own.

Let me know how you got on and are you happy with what you achieved!?

Until next time, take care and will post again on Thursday!

Lots of Love
Nicole x
