What I have learned from my first 6 months of blogging...

My first ever post on this blog went live on 14th February this year which means as of yesterday, I have been blogging for 6 months. You can learn a lot in 6 months, and my short time being a blogger has not only improved my skills but has taught me a few things or two... some of which is extremely useful. Blogging can be a lot of hard work and a lot of people don't think so! However throughout the last 6 months I have taught myself a lot, and it is all thanks to this blog....

Apple Computer, Hands, Keyboard

You don't need to be the best!

I myself when I started blogging, would often visit other blogs online to learn what people like and what I should be writing. I always thought when I first started that my work would not be read, simply because I didn't think I was going to be good enough. Nevertheless, their are so many bloggers out there and it is such a close community, that your blog will be read, no matter how popular you are.... you don't need to be the best to get noticed. It can be tough when you see someone else who is posting similar content onto their page and they have loads of followers, in comparison to your 0, but the blogging community is so close and everyone understands how much work goes into typing up posts, they will be supportive and you will get readers... it will just take time!

Planning and Organisation

I have never been so good at remaining organised than I have been since I started this blog. As many of you will know I work full time, therefore ensuring I stay organised and plan my posts is essential.. and it did take me a few months before I got the hang of it. Being efficient with your time is essential to not only ensuring you are consistent with your work, but to ensure that you gain loyal followers and that is going to be what makes your blog grow...

Communication

This is an obvious one, however I have communicated with not only fellow bloggers, but several companies regarding work and collaborations. Doing this so regularly has definitely improved my confidence in communicating with strangers in both a casual and professional way. This has been great for me as I also feel this has been beneficial in my personal and work life and has became invaluable for me to developing my blog. I have built up amazing relationships with fellow bloggers and some brands, and thanks to my communication skills, I can hopefully keep building on the relationships I have already built.

Just basic writing skills...

I was never great at typing when I was younger and even though I loved it... I never had the skills to really get into it. However since I started this blog,  I have definitely improved in my writing and even comparing what I do now, to what I produced back in February, you can for sure see a difference. I have taught myself to never let the fact I am maybe not the best at something get in the way of doing it and this has for sure been the case for myself.

Photography and Design Skills

I have always loved pgotography and again I might not be the greatest but I always like to ensure my blog looks the best it can by ensuring the blog is designed well and is entriguing with good photos. It is such an important factor that is often overlooked in blogs and I have definately improved in ensuring my blog looks the best it can be. It took me a few months before  was happy with my blog layout and can see a hue difference in my blog traffic since changing my blog design (It really is that important). I now know what people like and what designs work best.. something I wasn't very good or experienced at 6 months ago!

Finally - I learned how much I love blogging.....

I always wanted to start a blog as it was always something that interested me, however I never thought I would love it as much as I do and I am amazed at how much it has became a part of my life. I am so passionate with my blog and have spent many many hours to ensure I am happy with my blog and feel proud showing it off to my readers. It is something I see myself doing for a long time in the future, and don't see myself stopping any time soon.... so stay tuned!

I for sure never realized how much blogging would teach me and it has improved my skills, qualities and confidence which has been invaluable in not only my blog, but my personal life too. I have had the chance to work with some companies that I love and feel honored to collab with them, something I could never have imagined myself doing 6 months ago!
